If you are interested in joining any of these groups as a volunteer, please contact Clerk for more information. We also have a contract with the Manitowoc Fire Department to provide ambulance service. Election Info: Town elections are held at Lakeshore Technical College located in the Village of Cleveland (1290 North Avenue) in the Wells Fargo Room. Elections for 2008 will be held as follows: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 GENERAL ELECTION for President and Vice President of the United States, Representative in Congress, State Senator, Representative to the Assembly, District Attorney, County Partisan Offices, and Kiel School District Only Referenda. School Info: The Town has three school districts and their links follow: Manitowoc Public School, Kiel Area School and Sheboygan Area School. Post Offices: Residents are served by either the Newton Post Office (for those with a Newton, WI, mailing address) or the Cleveland Post Office (for those with a Cleveland, WI mailing address). County Board Rep: Our County Board Representative is Kevin Behnke (726-4562). State Rep/Senator and US Rep/Senators: Our Wisconsin State Assembly Representative is Bob Ziegelbauer and our Wisconsin State Senator is Joe Liebham. Our U.S. Representative is Thomas Petri and our two U.S. Senators are Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold. Recycling: The Town of Centerville shares recycling/solid waste services with the Town of Newton. The site is located on the corner of Center Road and Carstens Lake Road in the Town of Newton (across from the Newton Town Hall). Site is operated every Saturday from 8 AM until 4 PM.. Site closed when a Holiday falls on Saturday. During months of June, July, August & September open Wednesdays from 3-6 PM. Recycling is mandatory. Permits can be obtained by contacting either the Chairman, one of the Supervisors or the Zoning Administrator. They are also available from the Cleveland Fire Chief. These permits are issued for burning clean wood only. You can download a permit to submit via e-mail or fax from this link: BURNING PERMIT Building Permits: Please contact Zoning Administrator for construction over $800.00 or any new structure to insure compliance with zoning/setback ordinances. Posting Locations: All meeting notices are posted in four locations throughout the Town: Pack'er Inn (6619 County Road F), Lakeshore Metals (corner of Beech Street and East Jefferson Street), Schmidt Excavating Inc. (8229 North Avenue) and at Lakeshore Technical College, 1290 North Avenue (which is our current location for our Town Hall). Please use east driveway and meetings are posted on the glass doors outside the conference entrance. Dog Damage: Please report dog damage immediately to the Law Enforcement Officer. Failure to report promptly could result in loss of damage payment. Dog Licenses: Dog licenses shall be paid for with the real estate taxes. Dog licenses will be issued only when a rabies inoculation receipt from the veterinarian is shown at time of payment. Any dog five months old and older should be vaccinated and licensed. Fees are $5.00 for neutered or spayed dogs and $10.00 for unneutered or unspayed dogs. After April 1, we must charge an additional $25.00 late fee. We have a dog census taker who goes around in July and August to get a count of dogs as well as to update our population count for our local disaster group. Tax Payment Information: The first installment of taxes are payable to the Town of Centerville and our Treasurer collects them at her home (see phone number and address under Town Board page link to Treasurer). Second installment is paid to the Manitowoc County Treasurer. Weed Notice: Notice is hereby given pursuant to Sec. 66.0407, WI Statutes, to each and every owner, occupant or person in control of all private lands within the Town of Centerville that it is their duty to destroy all noxious weeds on such property. Noxious weeds include Canada Thistle, Leafy Spurge and Field Bindweed (Creeping Jenny). If any person neglects to destroy any weeds required, the Town Board shall cause all such weeds to be destroyed in a manner deemed to be the most economical. An accurate account of the expenses of that weed cutting will be kept and will be sent to the property owner. If unpaid by the end of the current year, the unpaid amount will be placed on the tax roll and collected as other taxes are collected. |
