Late Payments
All bills are due and payable upon presentation. A Late Payment Fee of 1.5% will be assessed based on any outstanding past due balance greater than $5.00 that has not been paid by the 20th of the month. To avoid a Late Payment Fee ask about signing up for the automatic withdrawal from your checking, savings account or credit card.
Accounts unpaid after the final date authorized by the Telephone Company’s established tariff are overdue and service may be suspended. Written notice of our intent to disconnect telephone service is mailed to a customer at least 5 days before the scheduled disconnect date. Once service has been suspended, the entire bill becomes due, in addition to a reconnection charge of $15.00 plus tax. If a written request from a resident subscriber is on file in the local business office when the disconnect notice is mailed, 5 day notification will also be sent to the County Department of Health and Social Services. A charge of $19.50 will be assessed to the account for checks drawn against insufficient funds.

SERVICE REPAIR GUIDELINES:
Service Call - $25.00 per visit Maintenance Labor - $55.00 per hour with a half hour minimum
Should you experience a service outage and have tested all your telephones and associated equipment, call our business office at 920-758-2211 or 920-553-2211 to request a Lakefield technician to repair your service. Please remember to leave a call back number with our 24 hour answering service.
If you have our Residential Wire Maintenance Plan there are no additional charges to repair your service. However, should our technician determine the cause of the outage to be in your customer owned telephone, associated equipment or *substandard wiring, Lakefield will charge a Service Call of $25.00 and Maintenance Labor of $55.00 per hour with a half hour minimum. The technician will disconnect your customer owned equipment or faulty wiring to restore your telephone service. At that time, you can determine if you want our technician to repair or replace that faulting wiring or jack.
*Lakefield reserves the right to deny certain claims based upon a -re-existing wiring condition or wires placed by the homeowner or contractor that, in our opinion, are substandard and causing your network outage.
What Should I Do If I Have Telephone Trouble?
To avoid unnecessary service charges, be sure to check your equipment before reporting a service difficulty
- Dial your home telephone number from a friend, neighbor or cell phone. If you hear a busy signal - then your line or phone is shorted out.
- Unplug and firmly plug in all telephone or modem cords. Repeat Step 1.
- Be sure all telephone handsets are securely in place. Repeat Step 1.
- If problem exists - unplug all your phones, answering machine, satellite receivers, modems, etc. from the telephone jacks. Repeat Step 1.
- If you don’t hear a busy signal and hear ring back, then the problem is one one of the pieces of equipment you have just disconnected.
- Plug one piece of equipment back in and repeat Step 1 each time (Hint: Answering machines and cordless phones have shown to be the most troublesome.
- If in Step 5 - you heard a busy signal with “all” of your equipment unplugged, the problem could be with inside wiring.
- If in Step 1 - you hear ring back and have no dial-tone then your line could be open and a repair technician may need to be dispatched. Based on the findings there may still be a repair charge. For example - were you doing any digging on your property?
